We met Nazem tonight through Issa at his gallery. Nazem is a worker at a textile factory in Aleppo. About 6 or 7 years ago he decided to learn photography, and eventually found Issa who tutored him. He has since been taking portraits of his worker colleagues at the factory using his film camera. He said at the beginning they were hesitant to be photographed, but eventually they got more comfortable with it and now even his boss likes his pictures. They work around 12 hours a day, and Nazem says most of his colleagues are married, have several kids, but are still living day-by-day with no concrete plans for the future. He is happily single.
